gentlemen,

I suffered terrible losses while distilling P2P.

500mlp2p gives 200ml of pure p2p.

Such gains break my heart!

I built a still, a pressure cooker that boils at high temperatures to produce steam.

Place the distillation bottle in the electric heating mantle and turn on the heating mantle to a temperature of approximately 130°C

When the steam enters the condenser tube and begins to cool, turn the pressure cooker down to regulate the size of the steam. If you keep it high, the intense steam will quickly fill the receiving bottle.

The first two bottles of distillate received during the distillation process contain most of the p2p.

The subsequent distillate contains very little. After adding the sodium chloride solution, approximately 2 liters of distillate yielded 20 ml of p2p.
As the water in the distillation flask evaporates and the heating continues, a thick caramel mass will be obtained.

The second time I tried adding water to continue the distillation, but only the distilled water was condensing.

I have a few questions now:

1: When the steam begins to condense, should the pressure cooker continue to be on high heat or turn down the heat?

2: Should the electric heating jacket of the distillation bottle be turned on? Or does it just need steam from the pressure cooker to complete the heating?

3: When the water in the distillation bottle becomes less, should I add distilled water to continue distillation? Or add potassium carbonate solution?

Is there anything else I'm doing wrong?

Sir, please help me!

Thank you very much! !

After distillation, the mixture in the distillation flask still looks oily. After cooling, some crystals will appear at the bottom. Does such a mixture also contain p2p?
Is there a way to extract p2p and re-distill it?

I know my question is stupid! My country and my English level! As a result, I am unable to inquire for more information.

Please help me! !
Thank you very very much! !

It is also possible to use sodium carbonate solution. Put the dirty P2P and sodium carbonate into a small flask and heat it until it boils. If the other steam transmitter flask is larger than your P2P flask, you must use distilled water and heat it to 105 degrees (maintain the temperature) until you know that the liquid flowing out is not oily. It's very simple, but it's too time-consuming.

hacke8i can tell you the point with time consuming from first hand, i also do at the moment a steam destilliation after reaction from BMK. Without a stream source.
Now it is on heating for about 48h and about 1h ago i see cloudy white steam stream in condenser, in the collection flask.
it initially floats on the surface and then sinks to the bottom where there is a large lump that coalesces.
it is slightly yellow with a hint of neon green when you shine a flashlight into it.
A stream source is nice to have for next time.

1. yes and no regulate the steaming speed according to the amount in distillation flask.
2.yes it has to be on
3. answer 1
Add boiling stones in the distillation flask . sodium carbonate solution must be added to the P2P not the steamer
If it doesn't work try vacuum distillation

I think I know the source of the problem, or rather I lost all my p2p once due to my own stupidity. Maybe you might have done the same stupid thing.

spongebombI'm sorry I didn't quite understand what you meant. Murphy's laws work for me, I progressed by making and understanding all the mistakes before doing anything.

Honeymoon302@Due to the high vapor pressure (pressure fluctuation, etc.), the main flask and the receiver also destroyed the p2p distilled in the flask. To avoid doing the same stupidity again, I added a valve to control the steam pressure and an escape bottle a few times. until you learn it completely.

Don't add any base to the P2P.
There must be always water in the distillation flask, never let it run dry.
